Commissions TOS and FAQ
Art Commission Terms of Service
Commissioning artwork is a process that allows individuals to obtain personalized pieces of art tailored to their specific desires and needs. For Christian artists, this process is guided by a set of terms and conditions that is based on scripture that outline what can be expected from both the artist and the client. Understanding these terms is essential for a smooth and satisfactory commissioning experience.
One of the primary aspects of commissioning artwork from an Phrog's Odds and Ends is the clarity regarding the subject matter. In accordance with my faith and personal values, there are certain subjects I do not create or engage with in my artwork.
I will not draw the following under any conditions:
🚫 Sexual / Explicit Content
-
Pornography of any kind
-
Nudity, sexualized poses, or fetish art
-
LGBTQ+ romantic/sexual depictions (ie I will not draw gay/lesbian couples, trangender individuals, pride flags, etc)
-
Incest, pedophilia, or underage sexual content
-
Bestiality or sexualized anthropomorphic content
-
Explicitly erotic fan art (ships, pin-ups, etc.)
🚫 Occult / Spiritual Practices
-
Demonic imagery¹, satanic symbols, or witchcraft
-
Pentagrams, sigils, tarot, ouija boards, horoscopes, etc.
-
Depictions glorifying witchcraft or sorcery (I am okay with fantasy magic if not occultic in tone)
-
Idolatry — gods/goddesses presented for worship rather than mythology, or characters worshipping/practicing religions other than Christianity²
-
Blasphemous art mocking God, Jesus, or the Bible
🚫 Violence & Gore
-
Excessive gore or horror for shock value
-
Torture, sadism, or glorified brutality
-
Snuff-like depictions (death/violence presented erotically)
-
School shootings, terrorism, or real-life mass violence
🚫 Immorality / Lifestyle Promotion
-
Drug use (especially glamorized)
-
Alcohol abuse or drunkenness (moderate depictions might be fine)
-
Adultery/cheating portrayed positively
-
Prostitution or sex work glamorization
-
Content encouraging sinful lifestyles
🚫 Political / Ideological
-
Art promoting causes or ideologies that contradict Christian convictions (e.g., pro-abortion activism, pro-satanic groups, pride celebrations)
-
Certain political figures, if portrayed as idolized, blasphemous, or in sexually suggestive ways
🚫 Miscellaneous Boundaries
-
Furry art
-
Hyperrealistic horror (zombies, monsters, demons)
-
Parody/mockery of Christianity, Jesus, the Bible, or church leaders
-
Commission requests designed to troll/mock real individuals/institutions
- I do not create fan art for media, individuals, or franchises that conflict with my faith or uphold values contrary to Biblical principles (e.g., Hazbin Hotel, Twilight, The Owl House, etc).
¹ - An exception can be made for drawing demons in a Biblical setting - as completely and irredeemably evil spiritual beings under the dominion of Christ and powerless against him
² - An exception can be made for drawing a character who comes to the faith after being involved in another religion, but even then I may be uncomfortable drawing worship of other religions case by case
I reserve the right to decline or request revisions to any commission that conflicts with my personal convictions or Biblical principles, including matters not explicitly listed here. While I will make every effort to keep this page updated, there may be instances where I need to make decisions on a case-by-case basis regarding specific requests.
Another important factor to consider is the timeline for completion. Clients should be aware that the wait time for a commissioned piece can extend up to one month. This timeframe allows the artist to dedicate the necessary time and effort to create a high-quality work of art. Clients should plan accordingly and communicate any deadlines they may have, while also being prepared for potential delays. If your commission is time-sensitive, it may be possible to pay for quicker completion.
References play a significant role in the commissioning process. Artists typically require references to ensure that they accurately capture the client's vision. These references can include images, sketches, or detailed descriptions that convey the desired elements of the artwork. Providing comprehensive references not only aids the artist in understanding the client's expectations but also enhances the likelihood of a successful outcome.
It is also important to note that commission prices are subject to change. Various factors can influence pricing, including the complexity of the artwork, the materials used, and the artist's experience. Please note that my commission prices are subject to change as I work to establish rates that are fair to both myself as the artist and to my clients. Transparency regarding costs is vital for maintaining a positive relationship between the artist and the client. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Clients may cancel a commission and receive a full refund at any time before sketches or progress updates are provided. Once the first progress update has been delivered, cancellations are eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued once the final artwork has been completed.
If I decline a commission request, clients will receive a full refund or may revise their request to better align with my Terms of Service.
Frequently Asked Questions
"Can I request commissions elsewhere?"
Yes, I am willing to work through email (noexcusesphrog@gmail.com), taking payments through PayPal, Venmo, or Kofi. However, prices will remain the same as the prices listed on this website.
"Do you draw fan art? If so, for what fandoms?"
Yes, I will draw fan art! However, you MUST indicate that it is fan art so I have the opportunity to review the source material and ensure it aligns with my Terms of Service. If the media contains elements that slightly conflict with my TOS, I may still be willing to complete the commission. However, if the primary themes or characters of the media are inherently ungodly, I will likely decline the request.
"Can I request revisions? If so, how many?"
Yes, you may request revisions. I provide progress updates specifically to give clients the opportunity to request changes, ensuring the final artwork aligns with your vision. I allow up to three major revisions, which may include changes to character poses, designs, color palettes, or anything that will significantly change the piece. Minor adjustments, such as small tweaks or corrections, can typically be accommodated beyond this limit.
"What happens if I don’t like the finished piece?"
I provide progress updates throughout the commission process so you have opportunities to request revisions and ensure the final artwork meets your expectations. I allow up to three major revisions—including changes to character poses, designs, or color palettes. Minor adjustments can typically be made beyond this limit. Once the final piece is delivered, no further revisions are guaranteed, so it’s important to provide feedback during the progress stages. (see above for my policy on refunds)
"Can I use the commissioned artwork commercially?"
All commissions are intended for personal use only, unless otherwise agreed upon in advance. Commercial use—such as selling prints, merchandise, or using the artwork for promotional purposes—requires a separate license or permission. Please contact me to discuss commercial rights before placing your order.
"Can I repost the artwork on my social media?"
Yes! You are welcome to share your commissioned artwork on social media, provided that credit is given to me as the artist. Please do not claim the artwork as your own or alter it in a way that misrepresents my work. I have online presences on Instagram, Twitter/X, and YouTube so please mention my accounts if you post my art on there.
"Will you post my commission publicly, or can I request it to remain private?"
By default, I may showcase completed commissions publicly, such as on my social media or portfolio. If you prefer your artwork to remain private, please let me know when placing your order, and I will respect your request.
"What file formats do you provide for digital commissions?"
I typically provide completed digital artwork in PNG format, which ensures high quality and transparency when needed. If you require a different file format, please let me know in advance, and I can accommodate your request whenever possible.
